Where and how did you get your start in music?
I began playing music in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico at 17 years of age. My best friend introduced me to an electric guitar and we started our first band together.
What is your favorite style of music to play/ What is your primary instrument?
I love playing many styles of music but my most favorite is Reggae. My primary instrument is Bass Guitar.
Who is your favorite composer/musician?
My favorite composer is Bob Marley and my favorite musician is Jaco Pastorius.
What inspired you to teach/what do you enjoy about teaching?
Im truly inspired by the way music makes people feel. I enjoy teaching and sharing my knowledge to others in hopes that music will bring magic to their lives… just like it has mine.
How do you motivate students to practice?
I motivate my students to practice by keeping things fun and letting them be a part of decisions like choosing songs that they enjoy and songs which make them feel happy and encouraged.
What are some unique things you do to make a positive impact on students’ musical growth?
To make positive impacts on my students I always approach each lesson with high energy and always giving praise on jobs well done. I encourage practice so that they can see their own musical growth and celebrate with them when they reach their goals.
If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?
If I were a tree according to the Celtic traditions, I would be the Alamo tree. The characteristics of this tree is courageous, loves pleasant environments, promotes good will, and has a very artistic nature. All of these characteristics i would share with my music students.
