Music Theory: Includes note reading, chord structure, scales etc…

 

Traditionally note reading is learned on Piano, Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass, and Brass/Woodwinds. On guitar note reading is advised, especially for young beginners, but not required. If you want to learn to read music on guitar please specify. All of our guitar teachers can teach basic note reading and tablature.

OUR TEACHERS

Terrie Fleming: (Piano b/i/a, Banjo b/i/a, Guitar b/i/a, Woodwinds-b, Music Theory) Terrie was raised in a family owned music store in Alabama She began piano at the age of 4 and at age 11 she began learning the banjo and guitar. She has judged bluegrass competitions and performed across the Southeast in both bluegrass and country/western bands. She even performed with Sid Hardrecker, one of the original acts on The Grand Ole Opry.

She attended the University of North Alabama receiving her B. S. in Secondary Education in only 3 years and going on to receive a Masters degree in Music from the same University. Terrie has taught private lessons for 30 years. At Arbor Music she teaches a variety of instruments. Piano, Banjo, Woodwinds, and Guitar.

She is also on staff at Montgomery College where she teaches Class Guitar, Class Piano, Music Fundamentals and Appreciation as well as private guitar and piano. You may also find her playing piano and being involved in the music at her church.

  

Robin Williams: Violin b/i/a, Fiddle b/a, Viola, Cello b/i, String Bass b/i. Robin began playing violin at age 11. She received her Bachelors degree in Music from Sam Houston State University and since then has taught orchestra and private lessons and played professionally in and around the Houston area. Currently Robin teaches and plays both classical and fiddle music.

 

Eric Williams: Guitar (b/i/a-Classical, Acoustic, Electric most styles, Music Theory) Eric received his degree in classical guitar from Sam Houston State University. Since then he has been teaching and playing in the Houston area. He specializes in teaching guitar theory and various styles of music, i.e. Classical, Flatpicking and Fingerstyle guitar.

 

Adam McFarland: Guitar/Bass (b/i/a-Rock) Adam is a versatile and multi-faceted musician. When he isn’t teaching he may be found working in his recording studio or playing his original music in one of the local live music venues. Adam enjoys teaching kid’s to Rock!

Conrad Craft: Mandolin (Bluegrass b/a), Guitar (b/i/a ) In a short period of time Conrad has become quite an accomplished mandolin player. He has taught master classes in and around the Houston area. Right now he teaches Guitar and Mandolin on Tuesday afternoon at Arbor Music. He tours and records with his  band “Appointed”

 

Chris Chimene: Guitar, Classical (b/i), Rock (b/i/a) Chris Chimene is a guitar instructor with over 6 years of playing experience. He is trained in many different styles including classical, modern and classic rock, metal, folk, Latin jazz improvisation, and experimental rock. He also has over four years of stage experience and over a year of studio experience. Chris has been teaching guitar and bass for over two years to people of all levels and styles.

 

Rosie Williams: Piano (b) Rosie has been playing piano for the past 5 years. She loves kids and she is our newest piano teacher for young beginners

 

Jesse Williams: Banjo (b/i) Jesse started out on piano, switched to trumpet before finally settling on banjo as his instrument of choice and the rest, as they say, is history. He has a large and growing repertoire of songs can pick with the best of them.
